Scoliosis Physiotherapy Treatment in Subang Jaya
Scoliosis
Physiotherapy
Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves sideways in an abnormal “S” or “C” shape. It often develops during adolescence, but adults can also experience it due to spinal degeneration. If left untreated, it can lead to chronic back pain, limited mobility, and even respiratory issues in more severe cases.
At Regenesis Physiotherapy, we provide tailored and professional physiotherapy treatment to help manage symptoms, improve posture, and prevent progression, whether the it is mild, moderate, or complex.
Common scoliosis symptoms we can help with:
- Uneven shoulders or hips
- A visible curve in the spine
- Protruding shoulder blade
- Back pain or stiffness
- Shortness of breath
Mild scoliosis may go unnoticed. However, as it progresses, you may notice the symptoms worsening. If you or a loved one experiences these signs, it’s important to seek professional assessment.
What Is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is defined as a lateral curvature of the spine. When viewed from the back, a healthy spine appears straight. Spine curves to the side for patients, sometimes rotating as well. This curvature may be subtle or visibly noticeable depending on its severity.
Does physiotherapy help scoliosis? Yes – especially when started early. We focus on realigning posture, strengthening core muscles, and preventing further spinal distortion through guided, personalized exercises.
Types of Scoliosis
Idiopathic
The most common type, especially in adolescents. Its cause is unknown, though genetics may play a role.
Congenital
Present at birth due to malformation of the spine during fetal development.
Neuromuscular
Associated with neurological conditions like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.
Degenerative
Often affects adults due to aging, arthritis, or wear and tear of spinal discs.

What the cause?
The causes of scoliosis vary depending on the type. While idiopathic scoliosis remains largely unexplained, other causes include:
- Congenital spinal deformities
- Neurological or muscular disorders
- Injury or spinal trauma
- Age-related spinal degeneration
In all cases, early detection and structured physiotherapy treatment can slow progression and improve quality of life.
Diagnosis usually begins with a physical exam, followed by imaging such as X-rays or MRI scans to measure the degree of spinal curvature. This information helps guide the course of treatment.

What Our Customers Say
From the moment we step in, the staff are warm, welcoming, and the entire process is very professional. They don't just go through the motions, they take the time to thoroughly explain every step of the rehab exercises. They ensure my parents understand how to perform the movements correctly and why each one is important for their recovery.
If you're looking for a physio, this is the place to go!
I tried manual therapy during my visit, and every spot felt very precise and effective. As i plays volleyball and badminton regularly, my muscles are usually quite tight, and I also have some old wrist injuries. After the session, I genuinely felt much better. Really impressed with the overall experience !!! 😊
From the first visit, the team was super friendly and professional — they really took the time to understand my condition and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole session. After a few treatments, I can honestly feel the improvement.
So thankful for their care and kindness!
Wayne was very thorough in checking our conditions and suggested that we share a package. We were charged an assessment fee of RM100 and a filing form fee of RM15 each, so I’m not quite sure how the “free assessment” applies. I think the front staff should be more familiar with promotions displayed at the shop front.
I’ll update this review after we complete our 10 sessions to see if the treatment helps.
However, I came here by chance this time, and just one session of treatment made me feel a refreshing change like never before. On the third day after the treatment, I could even go back to the gym to exercise my core strength. I don't know how to describe this amazing feeling, but above all, I want to thank the doctors here.
谢谢 谢医生!
It is more than just a place for treatment but a space where care, comfort, and calm come together to support your well-being. I feel comfortable with the environment with soft natural lighting fills the room, complemented by warm, neutral tones and gentle music that soothes the senses . The place is neat and clean, create a relaxed, homelike atmosphere. The staff there will always greet you with a smile and speak with a calm, reassuring tone, making you feel heard and supported from the very beginning. I would recommend patient from all ages to visit REGENESIS , you will definitely regret if you dont 🙂
I was diagnosed with severe cervical spondylosis - neck bone degeneration esp at c5-c7 with bone spur causing very bad nerve pain at my back shoulder blade and right arm , literally 24x7 since Aug 2024. It really affected my day to day life. A well-known specialist surgeon insisted for immediate surgery but with no guarantee that all will be well. However, I opted for physio, as per another Dr’s recommendation. Unexpectedly came across Regenesis via internet good reviews.
That was the best decision I made! Wayne was very patient, knowledgeable, explained to me on every process he did, constantly reminding me on the required exercises and the dos & don’ts. Due to my severe issue, I had visited Regenesis daily for the first 2 weeks & 2 days once later, diligently. After 5.5 mths, the pain subsided ..the visits were then changed to twice weekly just to make sure all in order, till today!
Wayne from Regenesis comes highly recommended! This is a sincere and honest testimonial based on my real experience!
Thank you Regenesis for helping me out. I truly value and appreciate the help and care rendered.
Instead, Wayne very quickly knew the effective treatment to apply - a combination of massages and dry needling that provided immediate relief. Every technique felt very precise and intentional, which was clearly backed by deep expertise and knowledge. I still received the expected care advice, but I also walked out of the clinic losing the limp that I walked in with.
By the next day, my ankle felt almost back to normal SURPRISINGLY - when otherwise, I’m sure it would have continued hurting for days. I know exactly who to thank for this. Don't worry Wayne, I'll still take it easy for the next two weeks at least haha.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, absolutely. Physiotherapy can play a major role in managing scoliosis. While it doesn’t “straighten” the spine the way surgery might, it helps improve posture, reduce pain, strengthen supporting muscles, and in many cases, slow the progression of the curve—especially when started early.
No, it is designed to be gentle, safe, and pain-free. The exercises are carefully chosen to avoid strain on the spine and joints. Most people actually find that they feel better after sessions—looser, stronger, and more in control of their movements.
It depends on the severity of your coion and your treatment goals. Most people start with 1–2 sessions per week, especially in the early phase. Your physiotherapist will also give you home exercises to do between visits, which are just as important as the in-clinic work.
Yes, it is completely safe and often highly recommended for children and adolescents. In fact, early intervention during the growing years can make a significant difference in preventing the spinal curve from worsening.
Paediatric physiotherapy programs for scoliosis are:
- Individually tailored to the child’s spine curve type, age, and growth stage
- Non-invasive and gentle, using movements and breathing techniques suited for young bodies
- Often combined with bracing, when necessary, for better long-term outcomes
- The earlier physiotherapy is started—especially during the growth spurt years—the better the chance of avoiding surgery later in life.
Parents are encouraged to stay involved in their child’s therapy journey to help with motivation and ensure exercises are done correctly at home.
Not always. In most cases, scoliosis stabilizes after growth stops, especially in mild to moderate cases. However, in adults—especially those over 50—degenerative changes in the spine can cause the curve to worsen or lead to pain. That’s why regular monitoring and early management are key.
Definitely. While general exercise won’t “fix” the curve, it can strengthen the core, improve posture, and reduce discomfort. Scoliosis-specific programs, like the Schroth method, are particularly helpful and should be done under guidance from a trained therapist.
